DESTINATION UNKNOWN
Once the Hodja had borrowed a mule to go to a village nearby. The animal, not being used to being ridden by anyone but its master, soon became very difficult to handle.
No matter how hard he tried, the Hodja could not make the mule go in the direction of the village. It went off at full speed, he knew not to what destination.
One of his friends saw him galloping across the fields and, fearing that the Hodja might be the bearer of some bad news, he called out:
"What's the matter, Hodja Effendi? Where are you going to in such a hurry?"
"I've no idea!" shouted the Hodja in reply. "This obstinate beast won't tell me!"
