Sandra Shaver Prather, died on Mar. 22, 2006 at home in Winchester, KY after a long illness. She is survived by her husband Gordon, 2 daughters, Anne Kathryn of Durham, North Carolina, and Elizabeth Prather Rhodes and her husband Tom Rhodes of Shelbyville, Kentucky, a son Harold Gordon and his wife, Nancy Rosadino of Black Rock, Connecticut, as well as 2 grandsons, Ryan Joseph and Charles Jason Prather. She is pre-deceased by her father Maurice Patterson Shaver, mother Frances Thiot Shaver, brother Maurice Patterson (Jr.), and granddaughter Caroline Frances Rhodes. She was married to her loving husband for 46 years. She was born in Jacksonville, FL and as an Army "brat" lived all over the U.S. as well as Ankara, Turkey. She graduated from Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC, and lived in Greensboro, NC, Easton, PA and Cincinnati, OH before settling in Winchester, KY. She was active in the Cincinnati political scene campaigning for Helen Fix and Willis Gradison, the state representative and house representative for her district and served on the Planning Commission in Madeira, OH. Sandi worked with the U.S. Attorney's office in Lexington KY before retiring in 1992. She was an avid tennis and bridge player, and a crossword aficionado. She had an incredibly bright mind, a kind and giving heart and left a lasting mark on the lives of all those she knew and loved. A memorial service will be conducted Sat., Apr. 1, 2006 , at the First Presbyterian Church, 130 Windridge Dr., Winchester, KY at 2:00 PM. by Rev. Bob Spratt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice East, 407 Shoppers Drive, Winchester KY 40391 or the Alzheimer's Association - Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter, 836 Euclid Avenue-Suite 322, Lexington KY 40502.
