Our third soft-cover yearbook begins with several pages of views of Turkey and a message from Principal Gundacker. With a small enrollment that year (graduating class of 18), the faculty was similarly small in number, with only seven teachers! But as always, they covered every important subject area.
Great candid superlatives are in the Who's Who section, and a lot of shots of the class play, 'Blithe Spirit' by Noel Coward are included, among the other school activities like Christmas, Sadie Hawkins Day, Homecoming and the Ankara Hunt and Saddle Club. The Volleyball team took First Place in the Conference, and it appears the other GCM teams - great pictures in cross country, football, gymnastics, soccer, wrestling, basketball - Girls' Basketball took the ASTL Championship. Although Track and Tennis team pictures couldn't be included, they were in the thoughts of the yearbook staff, who advised them to "Kick a___!" The entire rest of the book is dedicated to more candid shots, so it's a great browse. Have fun, and be sure to stop by the guestbook and leave your comments.
Our "million thanks" go out to Melanie Tyson (Carrier) '82 for sharing her book with us. Look sharp, as she donated the '80 book also, which is coming soon! Thanks also, as always, go to the 1979 Citadel staff, without whom we could not be enjoying this project!
