SO LONG AS THERE IS LIGHT

Once the Hodja's wife was in the family way. The midwife was sent for as the lady started havng her labor pains. As is generally the case, it was not until nearly midnight before the birth of a baby boy ws announced.

The Hodja was of course delighted to have a son. Just then, after another set of labor pains, a baby girl was born.

"Well," thought the Hodja, "a daughter is good company for her mother."

But there appeared to be no end to the labor pains, as the midwife announced the birth yet another baby boy!

Upon this announcement, the Hodja rushed into the delivery room and blew out the candle. When questioned about his curious behavior, he replied:

"It seems to me there will be no end to the babies so long as there is light!" he replied.
